Teaching Experience
The Teacher
While at Iowa State University I had the wonderful opportunity to develop and teach a digital photography course for graphic designers. Through this experience I learned how to prepare a full semester curriculum and develop leadership skills.
As an educator, one of the most rewarding moments I had was when I first saw a student have an "Aha" moment. You can see in their eyes the excitement and awe of their discovery.
My students were exceptional and I recognize the wonderful opportunity I was given to teach. I watched as my students went from no experience with photography to becominng award winning photographers in only one semester. Many of my students continue to use photography in their everyday design work today.
The Curriculum
There were 5 main projects the students worked on in sequence. Each new project built upon the previous one. Students would continue using skills learned in previous projects to advance their images for the next one.
Here are the five projects with a general description (do not want to give it all away):
Project 1: Location, Tell me a Story
Project 2: Shutter Speed
Project 3: Lighting
Project 4: Stories, Told Through a Series
Project 5: Put it All Together, Portraits
